Describe what your Genius Hour Project would look like if you could make it the very best it could be.
Playing a sport certainly comes with risks. Concussions are becoming a serious issue that need to be addressed. My partner and I are setting a goal to spread awareness about concussions to every athlete that we can in the community. We want athletes in the area to realize that safety should be a priority for each and every one of them. We would make a website that contains information on anything about concussions. From concussion prevention to symptoms to long term affects; we want the public to be aware of these injuries. I would like to have a page on the website talking about past athletes that have had long term affects from concussions. The website would also have a resource page that has links to videos, other sites, and personal information to spread awareness. Potentially, we may make a page on the website dedicated to selling wristbands to spread awareness about our website. We want to spread awareness from the kids in the elementary school all the way up to varsity sports.
We are planning on making the website so people can reference to it at any time to learn about the injuries. My partner and I are going to hang flyers around the schools and hand out flyers to the sports teams to give to the parents of the athletes. The safety of athletes is huge for the future of sports and the lives of the athletes. Another way of getting knowledge out about our website is we want to make and sell wristbands to the athletes so they can tell their friends at other schools as well.
